COURSE INTRODUCTION

This course in business is designed to create an environment in which the student will be able to explore the possibilities of opening a business. It is my goal of the course that each student feels comfortable in beginning a business. Every aspect of opening a business will be examined. We will look at Utah laws and regulations in opening a business. We will also cover in detail franchises and the differences in the law as it applies tothem. This course will focus upon the principles of business and the ethical situations created by business. The course will consist of the following concentrations and in order that we will cover them:

1. Choosing a business to open.

2. Completing the tasks involved in opening the business.

3. What is required in keepng the business running.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

ASSIGNMENTS

During the course there will be approximately seven Assignments. Each Assignment will take the student through the process of opening and operating a business in Utah. There are no tests or quizzes. However each Assignment must be completed on time! Each week the class time on-line will consist of discussing the Assignment and the aspects surrounding the material. Each assignment is to be e-mailed to me, or dropped off in a box set aside for your assignments at the Redwood campus. My box is located in the Business Adminstration Buuilding, on the first floor, in the information room. It is the same room where the faculty mailboxes are located.

The pattern of the course will go as follows: One week discussing the issues surrounding your next project. This includes covering the necessary information about the subject and project. This would be like a normal lecture at a campus classroom. The next week we will spend the time on-line answering questions in regard to accomplishing the project. This would allow each student to see what each other is doing, and the problems each has incountered and assist in accomplishing each project.
