Assignment #1

WORD/Internet - Virus Search. Every computer's nightmare. For this exercise you will research a particular virus and the means to stop it.

1. Pick a virus, preferably a recent virus [1 year or less].
2. Find as many web-sites or articles about the virus. At least six.
3. Describe, using word, the virus and the efforts to stop it.
4. I want a two page, double spaced, article. Include a separate page listing the URLs of the web-sites you used.
5. E-mail the Assignment to me as an attachment.


Assignment #2

Word/Internet
Hacking 101.

1. Research the internet to find hacker web-sites.
2. Are there any colleges offering hacking degrees?.
3.Find at least three names of hackers and their accomplishments.
4. Using word, write a two page paper, double spaced, describing the hackers are their accomplishments and punishments. Also include a section of the colleges that are offering degrees in hacking if you can find them. Include a separate page containing the URLs of the web-sites you used in your paper.

Assignment #3

WORD - Newsletter

This assignment is intended to give you an opportunity to incorporate graphics and text together on the printed page. You will also have a chance to try out the 'Newsletter' style that employs multiple columns.

1. Create a simple one page newsletter (or more, but not less than one full page) on a topic of interest - or just something silly.
2. Give the newsletter a title (use Wordart for the title).
3. Lay out the newsletter with two columns.
4. Find some art or graphics. Include at least two graphical elements in your newsletter and change the appearance [color scheme for example].
5. Include bulleted items and/or a numbered list.
6. Use several fonts - make the newsletter visually appealing.
7. e-mail it or print out(put your name into the newsletter).


Assignment #4

Internet search for templates.

1 Using the Internet (URL provided), conduct a search of all the available Web-page design templates.
2 Provide the name and web address for those sites.
3 Briefly describe the features of the templates, for example, what can you do with their templates. In addition, tell me what you like and dislike about the server.
4 Tell me which one you may consider using and why.
5 E-mail your answers to me.

Internet Assignment #2

Advanced Internet Search
Here is a list of 9 things for you to find. Use any search engine or try several search engines. Don't just look up a topic using the Yahoo directory. Actually perform a key word (or phrase) search.

1 Full page rendering of the Mona Lisa
2 An index of career opportunities in your chosen career field
3 The theme song from Scoobie Do
4 Information about your favorite actor or actress
5 The Human Genome Project
6 The age of a Neanderthal fossil find
7 A current weather radar report for Tokyo
8 Product information about a car you would like to buy (cost no object)
9 Information about bovine spongioform encephalitis (Mad Cow Disiease)
10 To this list add a topic of your own that you would like to learn more about.

Copy and paste the 10 URLs that you find into a Word document (and please tell me what you found at each URL). Name the search engine that you used for each. Also list the search key that you used. Then email this list to me as an attachment.
